Monday 2:30 (a) A Faculty Member's Perspective on the Use of Technology in Legal Education - Is it Time to"Pull the Plug" on Technology Investment?
Audience: All
Technical Level: Low
Law schools have made significant technology investments over the last decade. This has included course management systems such as Blackboard, Web portals, high speed wired networks, smart classrooms, wireless networks, on-line class registration systems, web casting, distance learning, podcasting, etc. Has this technology improved legal education or merely driven up costs without any educational benefits? This presentation will examine the pros and cons of law school technology investments from a faculty member's perspective. What works and what doesn't work? What can faculty members and IT personnel do to gain pedagogical benefits from technology? Should we "pull the plug" and go back to using a chalkboard?
